![]() Scott Kartvedt, from El Cajon, Calif., graduated from Valhalla High School in 1986 where he lettered in varsity water polo and track. He attended Pepperdine University, earning a bachelor's degree in accounting. After graduating in 1990, Scott worked at Peat Marwick as a management consultant in Century City, Calif. In August, he attended the Aviation Officer Candidate School at Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, Fla., and was commissioned an ensign in November 1991. Scott completed primary flight training at NAS Whiting Field, Fla., and transferred to NAS Kingsville, Texas, for intermediate and advanced flight training. He earned his wings of gold in March 1994. Scott then reported to Strike Fighter Squadron 106 (VFA 106), NAS Cecil Field, Fla., for replacement pilot training in the F/A-18 Hornet. In February 1995, Scott reported to the "World Famous Golden Dragons" of VFA 192, forward deployed in Atsugi, Japan. Scott made deployments aboard the aircraft carrier USS Independence (CV 62), including missions in support of Operation Southern Watch, Taiwanese Contingency Operations and the United States presence near North and South Korea. During his tour with VFA 192 Scott served as line division officer, NATOPS officer, air-to-ground weapons training officer, training officer and a landing signal officer. In January 1998, Scott reported to Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 101 (VMFAT-101) at Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, Calif., as an F/A-18 flight instructor. While at VMFAT 101, Scott served as schedules officer, aviation safety officer and a landing signal officer. He also attended the School of Aviation Safety at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, Calif. Scott joined the Blue Angels in September 1999 serving as number seven, the narrator, for the 2000 show season. He has accumulated more than 2,210 tactical jet flight hours and 313 carrier landings. His personal decorations include two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals and various other service and unit awards. -BLUE ANGELS- | ||
